The year has begun well. I’m already celebrating the publication of a new book for teens. Please note that.Inside is a book for young adults, not young children. It’s about seventeen year old Lee Mercer, who is in a Youth Offenders Institution for a crime he has committed.  Lee is definitely guilty and he is paying the price.  I researched this novel thoroughly and I’ve already had one terrific review in Inside Times, the prison newspaper. The reviewer, found it disturbingly true to life.  ‘So much so that I had to put the book aside and return to it on more than three or four occasions.’

You can read the review here

It was also pre-viewed in The Bookseller by Marilyn Brocklehurst of the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre who wrote:

"Julia Jarman’s gritty Inside describes Lee’s experience in a young offenders’ institution. This well-researched book, which is aimed at older teenagers, is no easy rideas it illustrates the grim reality of prison life for young people.  While behind bars Lee reflects on his misdemeanours and begins to recognise where he went wrong."
