The year is flying by. I’ve been so busy -
writing and doing events – that I haven’t reported on
all the schools I’ve visited. Please send me photos and
pupils’ work inspired by my books. I’m thrilled with
Lesson Plans generously donated by Lucy Compton of Spinney Hill
Primary. She used CLASS THREE ALL AT SEA with her Year One class and got
accolades from Ofsted. They said they had never seen such a high standard
of writing from Year 1 boys! You can find the lesson plans here.
I’ve had a couple of accolades myself:
Norfolk Library Service gave KISSES ARE YUK! Their Bronze Star Award. This is an award voted for by children so I’m very proud.
'Inside' has been longlisted for the 2010 YoungMinds Book Award.
We're told the competition was really tough this year and Inside was chosen out of 35 books to form part of a longlist of 12.
The publishers, Andersen Press, will send 50 copies to YoungMinds who will in turn distribute them to book groups and schools across the country for young people to review.
Once the reviews have been collated in September they will use them to chose the shortlist of 6 and then the winning book will be decided by a panel of 6 judges, including three young people and three children¹s authors. Fingers crossed!!
