Print

The aim of this pack is to create a wider literacy - including visual literacy. Pupils will engage in in-depth analysis of text and moving image, leading to a greater understanding of both the author's and the filmmaker's crafts. Book to Screen will encourage pupils to become more perceptive readers of the word and the visual image.

Teachers can use the materials to create inspiring lessons and projects for KS2 and KS3 or as an exciting Transition Unit.

The pack comprises:

It's available from Dramatic Media at www.dramaticmedia.net

This was the result of an exciting project in which pupils from Margaret Beaufort Middle School, turned Chapter 11 of my novel, GHOST WRITER, into a film. Directed by Julie Laslett of Dramatic Media, who produce great educational films, pupils and teachers acted the parts of all my characters. Julie taught them lots of skills and helped them write the script. I looked on - fascinated - as my words were transformed into moving image. Andersen Press got so many requests for the book that they re-printed it with a spooky new cover. We've had so many requests to share the educational spin-offs that we have produced the pack which includes lots of lesson notes.
